This is a video I put together to explain the why and how of the infamous C... OLLEGE OF ARCHITECTURE AND PLANNING sign on the architecture building of Ball State University. Sources include photos from the College of Architecture and Planning archive, photos from the staff photographer (who happens to be me), and oral history from Professor Rod Underwood.
Calls for a greater emphasis on strategic planning beg the question of how the public can be better engaged, and how one possible future for a place can be compared to another. Rod Simpson outlines the idea of 'strategic urban design' as the basis for integrating planning, design and community engagement, using 'real-time' modeling of scenarios. The lecture describes how the approach has been integrated into the Urban Design and Urban Planning programs at the University of Sydney for a number of Sydney case studies. Throughout the design process architects must continually consider the design in both the plan, or overhead view, and the sectional, or volumetric view. The easiest way I’ve found to do this is to begin by sketching a plan and then construct a three-dimensional version of that plan either in model form or by sketching. In order to get to three dimensions, we...

This deep technical session is intended for detailed planning Cloud PBX and includes planning steps for three options: Cloud PBX with Microsoft PSTN calling, Cloud PBX with on premises PSTN connectivity via Cloud Connector or via on premises Skype For Business or Lync pool. In addition, the session guides you through the process of planning for voice mail and dial in conferencing. As a result of the session the partner and the customer should have an architectural document per site completed. The architectural document template also provided as part of the SOF Cloud PBX and PSTN Conferencing Get Deployed offer.
